This page isn’t really about me; who is this Jeannie and why do I want to know where she is? I suspect that you don’t want to know where I am but want to know where I have been as it relates to where you may be going in the future. If that is the case, I hope my personal travel journal helps to serve that purpose.
This blog was created in part as my travel journal as I was not able to keep a consistent documentation of the places I visited, things I did, sights I saw, and foods I ate. I would start an entry in the journal but never finish it – a drag. It also didn’t help me to remember my travels very much as the photos associated were kept separate from my incomplete travel journal; and when I look back at the photos there weren’t any narratives to help jog the memories. Blogging about my travels has helped me to document them since 2008.
I love writing, and it has been my best creative and expressive outlet. I know I’m not the best writer in the world and I know I can use improvement but with daily writing, and the occasional writing exercise, I hope to become a writer people will enjoy reading. I’m still finding my voice and style. I’m not like the many travel writers who are constantly writing in a way to keep audiences interested and excited about traveling to domestic and exotic destinations. The writing I’m doing for this blog is for me but I’m happy to share them with anyone who is curious or wants to know what it was like to be where I was.
Photography is also one of my favorite art forms and hobbies, and with the invention of the digital camera, I can capture almost every moment of my travels. Like the fingerprint, no photograph is the same no matter how many people may snap the same shot of a specific monument or landscape. We are all physically different and that already determines that the photographs captured will vary from one person to the next. I certainly don’t claim to be a great photographer but some of the pictures I take do come out nicely, and I hope the ones I select to share on the post will illustrate my experiences and inspire others to take that trip.
Thank you for stopping by this page and reading a little bit about this blog. This was not written at the inception of the blog. I wasn’t quite sure what it was at first though I think I always knew it in my subconscious. Looking back at my travels from 2008, I realize now why I am blogging.
